Check in and end your burn

Last updated:

On the day you registered, tell us what you are doing. Your fire agency sees every registered burn for the day as a likely burn until you tell it otherwise.

Check in before you light

  1. Open your burn from your account page, the app, or the link in our message.
  2. Choose I've started my burn.
  3. We check the live status at that moment. You can check in only if it says Burning is allowed.

If burning is not allowed right then, we tell you why. Do not burn. Checking in needs a connection: if you are offline, we cannot confirm the status, so we cannot check you in.

Some agencies require you to check in before your burn counts as registered; others make it optional. The page tells you which.

If you are not burning

Choose I'm not burning today. Your agency then knows the smoke it may see is not yours. If you want to withdraw a day before it arrives, choose Cancel this burn.

When the fire is out

Choose The burn is out. Stay with your fire until it is completely out.

If burning closes

An agency can close burning at any time, even after you registered or checked in.

  • We send you a "do not burn" message by text, email or app notification where we can. These messages are a courtesy: always check the status yourself before and during your burn.
  • Your registration stays visible to the agency, marked as a possible burn during a closure.
  • If your fire is going, put it out, then tell us My fire is out.
